I turned eighty-two this past December, and I’m about to publish my debut novel, High Finance. A circuitous path, from China studies to social activism to Wall Street, has finally led to a September 2 publication date. I wish I’d had more time to write fiction over the years, but I know the story I’ve written wouldn’t be the same story, or the right one, without the winding path that has led me here.
